ABOUT

Susie Frazier, Designing For Wellness author, WELL AP and WELL Faculty member with IWBI

Susie Frazier is a wellness design consultant who helps development teams create inspiring, earthminded settings where people naturally want to be. Gifted with sensory fluency and an expertise in designing people-first, biophilic places, Susie works with real estate professionals, and their architects, to solve some of their biggest challenges relating to attracting and retaining their audiences.

Whether their concerns focus on a hybrid workforce of professionals, prospective multifamily tenants, or an entire neighborhood of stakeholders, Susie guides developers to find meaning in the footprint of their project site and implement well-being features that appeal to everyone who will touch it.

Susie began as an ecology artist in 1997 coming up through the environmental movement, educating and advocating for greater ecological awareness alongside other regional leaders in Northeast Ohio’s green building and sustainability movement. She has decades of understanding the impact buildings have had on our planet. But an ADHD diagnosis six years ago led her to more deeply feel the impact buildings had on her being. As a neurodivergent adult who is hyper sensitive to the lighting, sound, temperature and nature-deficient design choices, she’s been creating design solutions for multifamily, corporate, healthcare and hospitality clients around the world.

In 2018, she published a visually-inspiring book of 15 self-taught principles, called Designing For Wellness. Two years later, it won 5 global book awards. Earning her WELL AP and a WELL Faculty credentials with the International WELL Building Institute in 2023, Susie now brings even more evidence-based value to her multifamily, corporate and hospitality clients, opening pathways for innovative wellness design features and new marketing vernacular that help define and differentiate their projects in the marketplace.

WELL™ is the world’s first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness and can be applied across many real estate sectors. WELL marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based medical and scientific research – harnessing the built environment as a vehicle to support human health and wellness.

Susie speaks at national conferences, on television, and podcasts about prioritizing people's well-being through the design choices of our built settings. Her design philosophies have been featured in Psychology Today, Interiors & Sources, Iconic Life, and Housetrends,  U.S. News & World Report, the Wall Street Journal, and many regional media outlets. She is a contributing author to Thrive Global, Organic Spa Magazine and Hers Magazine, among others. She's appeared on NBC, FOX, and CBS in multiple markets, and she's the recipient of a 2018 regional Emmy® Award for a TV show in which she starred and co-produced about her creative process.
