Crafts Report
Artist to Artist, 1999
“Getting the most out of publicity has been crucial to the expansion of our craft business. Since our first marketing attempt in 1997, we have been proactively pitching our story to the media as actively as we have been pursuing our customers.
We’ve found that each effort has played off another to increase awareness of our designs, ultimately increasing our sales. Every article gets used to promote our creations, whether it is framed in our show booth or mailed to existing and potential wholesale customers. Inclusion of published features in our marketing efforts lends instant credibility to our young business and confirms the popularity of our products to skeptical buyers.
When we are at gallery openings, we network with those attending and follow up with promotional packets. If we’ll be involved in a special event, we notify the sponsoring newspaper with a press release and photos.
Once we accepted how much of an impact good publicity has had on our sales, we became ore open to al the ways of attracting it. Now we never underestimate how powerful the art of self promotion can really be to our bottom line.” |
