In 1997, Susie Frazier opened a design studio in Cleveland, called Set In Stone, through which she created mosaic home accessories made out of recycled slate roofing tiles. Her signature eco-art was sold through 60 galleries from New York to San Francisco before she faced health issues from working with airborne slate dust. Today, Susie works with more benign earth materials like bark, leaves, twigs and grass to create abstract assemblage art that emphasizes the innate patterns found in Mother Nature. These organic, textural compositions have been featured in gallery showrooms, public art projects, private collections, on television and in print publications nationwide -- with a range of other applications in the works for her designs.
As a consultant, Susie offers planning services
that help organizations implement art projects
into the public realm for the purpose of
economic development. Pulling from her experience
as the co-founder and past director of the
award-winning Sparx
in the City, Susie offers best practices
in the areas of marketing, development,
and strategic partnerships. Under her direction
between 2002 and 2006, Sparx in the City's
portfolio of activities generated $5.1 million
in economic impact in Cuyahoga County, garnered
over 29.5 million media impressions, and
created 729 paid opportunities for regional
artists totaling over $214,000. |
Since 1993, Susie has worked to elevate
the importance of arts entrepreneurs in
Northeast Ohio's economy, by writing articles,
delivering lectures, and hosting public
events that highlight artists and their
impact. She's spoken at dozens of corporate
clubs, association meetings, arts seminars,
and schools while her opinions have been
published across multiple media outlets.
Susie is the former
Secretary of the 92-year old City Club of Cleveland,
where she also served as Chair of the New Leaders
in 2002. In early 2005, she received the honor
of a German Marshall Memorial Fellowship, which
included a 23-day economic development and foreign
policy experience throughout Western Europe.
Today, Susie is serving her second term as trustee
to Northeast Ohio's public television and public
radio affiliate WVIZ/WCPN ideastream, while
she lives in the City of Cleveland with her
husband, Tim, and three children.
